🔎 AI RESEARCH: AI-Edited Photos Can Create False Memories

What researchers studied:
MIT researchers tested 200 people to see whether AI-edited photos and AI-generated videos could change how they remembered events they had previously seen.
What they found:
Participants were split into four groups that saw original images, AI-edited images, AI-generated videos, or videos created from AI-edited images.
The last group showed the strongest effect, reporting 2.05× as many false memories as the control group. They were also 1.19× more confident that those incorrect memories were real.
Why it matters:
As AI makes edited photos and videos more realistic, manipulated media may not just fool what we see—it could also change what we remember.
